Life Goes On
-Shelby and I got our hair braided with extensions. (We had to go to 12 different stores to find close to the right colour of our hair; extensions are intensely painful, and not for the faint of heart; as seen in the post below, there wasn’t time to finish so I ended taking them out soon after.)
-In Lusaka we saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2
-My mom made curtains for my room
-I sewed an apron out of the left over material
-The CLA team came and stayed in the guesthouse for two weeks
-The CAC team came and stayed in the guesthouse for two weeks
-A Pickering team is here now in the guesthouse for one week
-Kristin and Graeme sent us 3kg of M&Ms
-I went to a city church, rather than a compound church, which was a much different experience (and had a 3 hour service).
-Acts Community church had a baptism service in the Bersaglio’s pool
-We now have lettuce growing in our garden as well as tomatoes, wild cherry tomatoes, beans, peas, strawberries, and previously cucumbers and carrots
-The mango tree is flowering
-We set up the pool someone sent on a container, but had to ‘unset’ it because the ground was sloping, and there was a definite shallow end and deep end
-My mom and I fixed the foam cushions for the wicker furniture in the solarium
-I figured out a new good tasting combination – banana bread with peanut butter
-I also came up with an interesting snack – a fried banana with cinnamon on top
-I saw the most amazing music video ever, called ‘walk the dinosaur’ from the 80s
-We played our second board game since we’ve been here, during a recent power outage
-Winter is over, and the strong winds came and went … leaving the beginning of hot season for us as a warning
-There was a GIANT spider in the solarium, and mom used her kung-fu skills and a bamboo stick to kill it
- Today there was a naked man standing at the round-a-bout by Mona Lisa’s.
-Lauren and I made a home-cooked dinner for two boys (and should be invited back soon…)
-Mom just killed another cockroach
-I found out that some shampoos expire
-Lauren and I sorted the “Containers for Kids” at VOH and found two space dolls with over one hundred phrases along the lines of, “I am so totally gorgeous!” …amazing
-Dad almost stepped on a snake in the Bersaglio’s bushes (which have ALL been removed now)
-Dad’s word for “myspace stalking” or “Internet stalking” is “shmishing”
-I wrote a resume for Planning
-Lauren, Alicia, and I had a gingerbread woman making party in August. We iced them too.
